The short version
This is an independent travel guide run by Bryan Roseman in Satun, Thailand. We don’t sell anything directly, we don’t have user accounts, and we don’t ask for your personal data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, and we set a cookie on your browser only if you consent to that tracking.
Who runs this site
kohlipethailand.org is operated by Bryan Roseman, co-owner of La Bombona Diving (Koh Lipe, Satun Province, Thailand). You can reach us at bryan@kohlipethailand.org for anything relating to this policy.
What we collect
When you visit the site and accept cookies, Google Analytics 4 records:
- Pages you view and time spent on each
- Your approximate location (country and city level)
- The device and browser you used
- How you arrived (referring site, search engine)
- A randomly-generated identifier stored in a cookie on your browser
If you decline cookies, none of the above is recorded. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, also logs basic server metrics (IP address, request timing, user agent) for security and performance. This data is anonymised after 30 days and is not linked to you.
When you email us, we keep your message in our email inbox for as long as it takes to respond, and typically delete threads older than 12 months.
Why we collect it
Analytics data is used purely to improve the site — understanding which pages get read, which don’t, and where readers come from. We don’t sell it, share it with third parties outside Google, or use it for advertising.
Legal basis (for EU / UK visitors)
We collect analytics data on the basis of your consent, which you give by accepting cookies in the banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the site’s cookies in your browser, or by using your browser’s “Do Not Track” settings.
Server logs are kept on the basis of legitimate interest (operating a secure and performant website).
Your rights
If you’re in the EU, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you (which will be: nothing personally identifying — Google Analytics stores data by anonymous client ID, not by name or email)
- Ask us to delete any data we do hold
- Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time
- Complain to your data protection authority

Third parties
- Google Analytics 4 — traffic analytics. Data is processed by Google and stored under their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and provides DDoS protection. Minimal server-log processing under their privacy policy.
- YouTube / Vimeo — if we embed videos, those platforms may set their own cookies when you play a video.
We don’t use ad networks, remarketing pixels, or any other third-party tracking.

Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We update this policy whenever the site’s data handling changes. The “updated” date at the top reflects the last change.
